The Platte River Trails Trust, in partnership with ART 321, is calling for artists to submit works of any medium for our new “Art for the Trails” program, kicking off July 10th in Casper. From weaving and welding to ceramics, painting and metalwork, all variations are encouraged to add creative and artistic expression to the enjoyment of our community trails.
“Art for the Trails” is a program that invites artists from diverse backgrounds to engage with and be inspired by the Platte River Trail by creating temporary art exhibitions that will connect trail users with the natural environment.  Beginning July 9th through September 30th, a public art installation comprised of approximately 30 works of public, environmental art will be displayed along the River Trail between the Tate Pumphouse and the oil derrick at Amoco Park.

To kick off the Art for the Trails program, the community is invited to take part in a virtual lecture and discussion by Casper College Fine Arts instructor, Carli Holcomb, on Thursday, April 2nd at 6:30 pm. Carli will discuss the value of environmental art, setting the stage for inspiration for projects of public art right here in Natrona County. Due to CDC recommended precautions in light of COVID-19, the lecture will take place online via Google Meets. This platform is completely FREE and will allow for a real Q&A + includes a chat box function so participants can practice social distancing while still interacting virtually. To join the event by computer or phone, click here or call +1 740-963-3977 and enter PIN: ‪470 437 032#.
