Trail Construction & Closures

From time to time, short sections of the trails are temporarily closed due to construction activities or other reasons. Trail closures may be necessary while we rehabilitate deteriorated sections, or when the city or state make repairs to roads, bridges, culverts, or utilities near the trails.
Please take a look at the information below for updates on closures and suggested alternate routes.

F-Street Bridge/I25

Bridge from the River Trail to Platte River Common

About 0.25 mile of river trail between the Best Western and Crossroads Park is currently closed due to a WYDOT road/bridge project in this area. The project is expected to continue through most of 2025. We're excited to report that the new pathway has been constructed on the west side of the F Street Bridge, and the east side portion is underway! In the meantime, as an alternative, you can exit the River Trail at B Street and go east to Center Street using sidewalks. Center Street is still open to North Casper but does not reconnect to the trail system. From B Street you can also go south on Ash, David or Center to reach the Casper Rail Trail, which extends east to Evansville. For users who like to start at Bryan Stock Trail, we encourage you to do an out-and-back to Crossroads Park, or consider the Casper Mountain Road Trail, Casper Rail Trail or a western section of the River Trail if you're looking to expand your trek.
The Newell B. Sargent Bridge at the Tate Pumphouse, which connects the River Trail to the Platte River Commons trail system, is temporarily closed, as is a portion of the PRC pathway south of the North Platte River. BP is installing an additional barrier wall along their walking trail from Poplar Street to Wyoming Otolaryngology, per their Remedy Agreement with the WDEQ. The project is slated to be completed in November 2025. We encourage those who frequent this popular 5k route to instead consider an out-and-back trek through the tree-covered Austin Engineering section or explore the far west end of the trail from Morad to PV Park.
