During this season of giving, Annual, or Year-End, giving campaigns are abundant this time of year. This year the Platte River Trails Trust is asking for your support, through our Year End Giving Campaign, to give a gift to the Casper-area community—to residents and visitors alike—a gift they can enjoy for many years to come. Whether you’re an avid trail user, a frequent commuter, or simply need a safe way to get from point A to point B, we hope you’ll join our efforts to “Build a Bridge to the Future” and join our campaign to improve the new Poplar Street bridge. Our 2019 Annual Giving campaign, like our past Annual Campaigns, is about bettering the community through non-motorized transportation options such as trails. However, this year we’re aiming a little higher! The Platte River Trails Trust Board and friends are raising funds to install bump-outs to the new Poplar Street bridge; a key gateway from I-25 and a popular inner-city route. WHY BUMP-OUTS? Bump-outs will improve non-motorized transportation at this key intersection, creating safe zones where pedestrians can take a break on their way across bridge. If you’ve seen the Robertson Road bridge on Casper’s west side, you know what we’re aiming for (also see below). In addition to safety, bump-outs will highlight our great community treasure, the North Platte River, and provide pedestrians the opportunity to enjoy unparalleled views up and down river and to Casper Mountain. Not to mention, bump-outs will improve the aesthetics of this bridge located at a well-traveled intersection in our community. Proceeds from 2019 Riverfest, donations from Platte River Trails Trust Board members, and our Year End Giving Campaign will all be directed towards two bump-outs on the east and west side of the new Poplar Street bridge, scheduled for completion in 2021. Please help the Platte River Trails Trust Board “Build a Bridge to the Future;” one that is not only safe but beautiful. Learn more and contribute to this once-in-a-lifetime community gift here!

This is fantastic, I would love to see the bump-outs to be put in place, such a beautiful bridge to view the river, mountains, and the city right behind where downtown is so clearly visible. Total thumbs up to the bump-outs!
