It’s in the details: PV to Robertson Road Bridge

The Paradise Valley to Robertson Road bridge project is the Platte River Trails Trust’s long anticipated effort to extend the river trail to Casper’s westside. Our goal for the bridge is to provide safe, convenient nonmotorized trails to west-side Casper, specifically connecting neighborhoods to amenities like shopping, school, work, and more. The bridge will also provide access to open spaces for those in the area looking for outdoor recreation opportunities close to home. With your help, we can complete this last funding push and bring the PV to Robertson Rd. Bridge to fruition.
Curious about the bridge details? We’ve laid out a few points worth knowing as you join us in our efforts.

  • Specifications: From end to end, the bridge spans about 240 ft. across the North Platte River. The bridge will be 10 ft. wide allowing space for cyclists, runners, or pedestrians who simply want to stop and admire Casper Mountain, bird watch, or spot jumping fish in the river and have plenty of space to do so. Landing on the west side of the North Platte River, the bridge will travel about 75 ft. to connect to the existing trail along Robertson Road.

  • Access: To access the new bridge from Paradise Valley Park, users will travel west on Riverbend Road, designated by signage as a “Bike Route,” to Indian Paintbrush Street and continue on until reaching a city owned lot on Yarrow Street. From here, users will notice a new 10 ft. wide concrete trail beginning at the corner of Indian Paintbrush and Yarrow, where users will then continue to travel west until reaching the bridge.

  • Features: Platte River Trails is excited to bring the first pedestrian bridge in Casper with a handicap accessible fishing bump-out on the downstream side of the bridge. In the future we hope that the bridge will spur further preservation and enhancement to the riverbank along Robertson Road to include items such as benches and picnic tables.

PRTT believes the new bridge will supply the community with an enhanced trail system AND access to North Platte River. Not only will the bridge connect each side of the river, but it will also connect the community to beautiful open spaces right out their front doors.
