The Platte River Trail’s annual Spring Cleanup is June 3rd and we can’t wait to bring the community together to help prepare the trails for the busy summer season! With several events coming up, including the Casper Marathon, this community-wide event ensures we’re putting our best foot forward and providing the cleanest, safest trail network for all to enjoy. After a long, harsh winter, the Spring Cleanup is an essential event that ensures our trails are cleared of trash and debris from the prior seasons. Maintenance of our community trails is a high priority for our organization, and we rely upon the many hands of generous volunteers and Keep Casper Beautiful to help us properly maintain our trails. This year, we’d especially like to thank Rocking K Development, Enbridge, Holloman Corporation, ONEOK, Inc., and the Shane True & JoAnn Skeim-True Family for their support of our trails and ensuring users have the best experience possible all summer long. Speaking of summer trail experiences, did you know Casper was recently mentioned as one of the top 30 destinations to run a marathon? We already knew that of course, which is why on Sunday, June 4th, Visit Casper will host the Casper Marathon, bringing thousands of people from all over the country to run through Casper, including sections of the River Trail. What better way to showcase our beautiful community and pride for Casper than to spruce up the trails for all the runners and spectators? This year, we are also excited to join forces with local businesses for Corporate Cleanup Day on Friday, June 2nd, one day prior to the main Spring Cleanup event. This event will allow employees to step out of the office for a day, the afternoon, or just a few hours and participate in some team building and trail beautification. To learn more about this event or to participate with your colleagues, please contact [email protected]. Mark your calendars and be sure to join the Spring Cleanup on Saturday, June 3rd from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will meet at the Tate Pumphouse where we’ll divide and conquer focus areas on the trails. We encourage you to pre-register using our registration form which can then be emailed to [email protected], or you may register the day of the event at the Tate Pumphouse beginning at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday. All supplies are provided, just dress accordingly for the weather. Individuals and groups of all sizes welcome! While this is an annual spring-cleaning event, remember that every day is a clean-up day. When you’re out on the trails please don’t litter, pick up any trash you see along the trail, clean up after your dog, and respect the trails. As always, be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for any updates. See you on the trails!
