Summer and the busy trail season are just around the corner, and the Platte River Trails Trust needs your help! Join the 2024 Annual Spring Cleanup on Saturday, May 18th to pitch in with fellow trail lovers as we clean and prepare our community trails before summer hits. This important event is possible because of all the helping hands and the sponsors and donors who help us bring the Spring Cleanup to our community every year. As tens of thousands of people travel along the trails during the warmer months, the Spring Cleanup is the community’s opportunity to join other pathway users in clearing trash and debris from the windy winter season. Ensuring our trails are maintained, clean, and enjoyable for all users is a high priority for Platte River Trails. While picking up litter is encouraged all year long, the support and hard work of this collective community effort ensures the trails are looking their best as we head into summer.
In addition to our trail users, we also rely on the support and generous donations from corporate sponsors and partners for events like Riverfest and the Spring Cleanup. This year, we’d especially like to extend our immense gratitude to our Spring Cleanup sponsors including Holloman Corp, Enbridge, ONEOK, Rocking K Properties, and Williams, Porter, Day and Neville. Thanks to their support, we’re able to host yet another year of some much-needed trail cleaning and maintenance, while enjoying the fun gathering of Casper’s trail users! This year, we are also excited for the return of the Corporate Cleanup Day on Friday, May 17th, just one day prior to the main Spring Cleanup event on Saturday. This day allows employees to step out of the office for the afternoon, or even just a few hours, and participate in some team building and trail beautification on the clock. To learn more about this event or to participate with your colleagues, please contact [email protected]. Saturday’s Cleanup participants should meet at the Tate Pumphouse at 8:00 a.m. to receive your gloves and trash bags. From there, we’ll divide and conquer various trail sections in need. You’ll also be able to sign the volunteer waiver at the Pumphouse, though we encourage you to pre-sign at platteveritrails.com/events (all participants must have a signed waiver). Remember, all ages, individuals, and groups welcome! Just be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, bring water, and dress accordingly for the weather. The community’s collective support for our trail system does not go unnoticed and is a major contributing factor to the success, expansion, and liveliness of the trails. The Spring Cleanup happens because of YOU and your continued appreciation of our trails! We hope to see you Saturday, May 18th from 8:00 a.m. to noon for a morning of trail camaraderie and spring cleaning. Complete the brief volunteer waiver now at https://www.platterivertrails.com/spring-cleanup-waiver. As always, be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for any event or trail updates.
