Have you ever been curious about how our community trail system came to be or thought, “what is that oil derrick and why is it on the trail?” Platte River Trails Trust’s Executive Director, Angela Emery, answers those questions, plus many others on The WYpod. The WYpod is “a local podcast about everyday Wyoming leaders,” produced by Elevate Wyoming. Angela participated in the Special Video Edition of the WYpod on August 20th. The almost 30 min episode is a conversation between Angela and Eric Ruckle, with Elevate Wyoming (Eric is also one of Platte River Trails newest board members) and includes pictures of various PRTT projects and trail sections. The easy dialogue begins with a bit about Angela’s background, how she came to lead the Platte River Trails Trust, and what the past 20 years have meant to her. Angela goes on to discuss the history of several PRTT programs and initiatives, including river safety and the life jacket loaner stations, the various past and future bridge projects, the history of the Tate Pumphouse, and of course the versatility of our trails from the River Trail to the Casper Rail Trail and neighborhood trails in-between. Angela credits the many volunteers, especially those serving on the board, and community partnerships for the successes that PRTT has seen and the exciting plans and projects ahead. Be sure to check out this Special Video Edition of The WYpod and enjoy learning more about the trail system and the organization behind it, plus view photos of this treasured community asset!
